From restaurant reviews to the best ways to explore the city, Faaria's adult students have written their top tips for enjoying your time in London.
Inna:
I know a lot of good restaurants in London. One of my favourites is
Signor Sassi. This is a family-owned restaurant that has faithful clients
coming back again and again.
The venue is beautiful -- an old building in the centre of London near
Knightsbridge street. Signor Sassi offers classic Italian food in warm and
friendly surroundings. Whatever time you come here, this restaurant is always
busy and lively. The staff are polite and friendly. Sometimes, you can hear the
waiters singing Italian songs.
One of the most popular dishes is spaghetti with lobster. The wine list
is perfect. We can try a lot of wines from Italy. The price is 50 pounds per
person. I'd highly recommend everyone to try it at least once.
Irina:
I was in Zuma restaurant. This restaurant is located in Knightsbridge in
London. Zuma is a Japanese restaurant with Japanese classics. They often have
different types of Japanese food. The restaurant is very big and the decor is
in Japanese style. This restaurant is very busy -- if you want to visit, you
must book a table ahead of time (in advance), because it's known worldwide for
its Japanese food.
I recommend this restaurant for everyone who loves Japanese food. But,
the restaurant isn't accessible for everyone, because after eating you have to
pay a big tip included in your check.
Cinzia: Trafalgar Square and the British Museum
Last Sunday, I went to Trafalgar Square and then the British Museum. It's a beautiful square, where you can find a special fountain and columns. You can visit the British Museum (the entrance is free) and you can find very interesting people who have come from all over the world. I love London for this reason.
I don't have any particular recommendation, but if it is possible I think you should visit London by walking. Each person that I met gave me something!
Galiya: Sushi Hiroba
This is a little Japanese restaurant, very
cozy, and it has delicious food. It serves traditional Japanese meals. You can
enjoy high quality food, and drink original Japanese beer. The service is
polite and speedy. It is located in Holborn. It has classic Japanese decor. You
can select food from a conveyor belt. The price is between 15 and 20 pounds.
I'm sure you'd like it.
To get a seat there, you need to book in advance. I'd recommend everyone
to try it at least once.
Gionata:
Da Maria is a very little (only 23 seats) typical Italian restaurant,
situated in Notting Hill near the tube stop. I went to eat dinner with my
family. I ordered the spaghetti al pomodoro, and it was very well done and
tasty. My son ordered a pizza margherita, which I tasted and I can say that it
was above average considering we are in London.
The owner is an Italian who moved to London. He is very friendly. The
bill was 15 pounds for each person. It was better quality food than other
Italian restaurants that only say they are 'Italian'.
Roberta:
On my trip to London, I went to Olives restaurant with my family for a memorable
dinner. This is an Italian restaurant on Gloucester Road, and in particular
this is the venue of the Millennium Hotel. My experience there was very
positive because I ate very well and the waiters were very kind and discreet.
The pros are that the food was very good, especially the fresh prawns and the
vegetables. The food quality was very high, with a lovely presentation and the
menu selection was very varied. Also, the decor was very refined in a relaxing
atmosphere. The cons are that the price was high (about 40 pounds per person).
I recommended to my friends to go to Olives restaurant to spend a special
evening!
Anna: Shopping at Harrods
I was in Harrods two days ago on Oxford Street in
London. I saw a lot of luxury things -- they are all very expensive. I saw a
chessboard with bird decor, and it costs more than 125,000 quid. This is
totally crazy for me. I ate some good cake, but it was not delicious. I saw
Harrods, which is a beautiful venue, and the memorial statue of Princess Diana.
There were some pros, but in my opinion the cons were: the luxury is excessive,
so only a few people can shop in Harrods. So, I advise others to visit it only
for tourism.
